Job summary

Whirlwind Steel in Tallapoosa, GA is seeking a loader to efficiently load materials onto flatbed trailers, following safety guidelines and precise stacking.

You will operate a forklift, handle long materials up to 30-45 ft, and coordinate with teammates to ensure timely, accurate shipments. Outdoor work in varying weather conditions is required.

Strong attention to detail, good communication, and ability to read work orders are essential.

Responsibilities

• Install bracing or dunnage to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Move materials to designated areas using forklift or overhead crane.
• Collaborate with team and other departments to ensure coordination.
• Adhere to safety protocols and report issues to supervisor.

Job Summary: A loader is responsible for efficiently handling the loading of material onto flatbed trailers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety standards. The loader will ensure material is staged properly by following safe stacking guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read work orders to accurately load materials averaging 20-25ft long onto flatbed trailers.
• Operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Loads/unload materials from pallets, racks, trailers, and shelves by hand or forklift.
• Install bracing or dunnage to prevent shifting or damage to material in transit utilizing hand tools.
• Move materials to designated areas utilizing a forklift or overhead crane.
• Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during the loading/unloading process.
• Report issues or concerns to the supervisor.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience handling long material (30-45ft long) with a forklift.
• Must be able to work in all outdoor weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail with a desire to produce high quality and accurate work.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
• Ability to read work orders and follow oral instructions.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in an environment that may be noisy and/or require PPE.
