Whirlwind Steel is seeking a Loader to efficiently load materials onto flatbed trailers and ensure proper staging according to safety guidelines.

The role requires reading work orders, operating a forklift, and moving materials using forklifts or cranes while maintaining accuracy and safety. Outdoor work, attention to detail, and teamwork are essential aspects of the job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience loading long materials (30-45 ft) with a forklift is preferred.
• Demonstrated safety awareness and the ability to work in outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders to load materials averaging 20-25 ft onto flatbed trailers.
• Operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Load/unload materials from pallets, racks, trailers, and shelves by hand or forklift.
• Install bracing or dunnage to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
• Move materials to designated areas using a forklift or overhead crane.
• Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure communication and coordination.
• Adhere to safety protocols during loading/unloading.
• Report issues or concerns to the supervisor.

Job Summary

A loader is responsible for efficiently handling the loading of material onto flatbed trailers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety standards. The loader will ensure material is staged properly by following safe stacking guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Read work orders to accurately load materials averaging 20-25ft long onto flatbed trailers.
• Operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Loads/unload materials from pallets, racks, trailers, and shelves by hand or forklift.
• Install bracing or dunnage to prevent shifting or damage to material in transit utilizing hand tools.
• Move materials to designated areas utilizing a forklift or overhead crane.
• Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during the loading/unloading process.
• Report issues or concerns to the supervisor.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs.
