Job summary

Mabe Steel Inc. is seeking a Firewatch for on-site field work on active construction sites. You will monitor hot-work areas, keep extinguishers ready, and stay on watch after welding activities to prevent fires.

No prior experience is required; training for fire extinguisher use is provided. Candidates must be comfortable outdoors in all weather and work at elevated heights alongside welders, reporting to the foreman.

• No experience required; fire extinguisher training provided.
• Alert, dependable and able to stay focused for long periods.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and at elevated heights when stationed with welders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor hot-work areas for sparks, slag and fire, at ground level and at elevated heights where welding takes place.
• Keep fire extinguishers on hand and ready; respond to small fires and sound the alarm when needed.
• Remain on watch for the required period after hot work ends.
• Clear combustibles from work areas and handle general cleanup.
• Follow all safety rules, fall protection and PPE requirements.
