The City of Fort Wayne is seeking a Field Operations Intern (Seasonal) to support utilities field operations outdoors. You will perform hands-on tasks with hand and power tools, operate heavy equipment, and assist with water, sewer, and stormwater services.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, comfort with varying weather, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. You’ll work as part of a team, follow safety procedures, and contribute to community infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and follow field procedures safely.
• Strong communication and a team-first attitude.
• Able to pass a post-offer agility test.

Responsibilities

• Support field operations for water, sewer and stormwater services using hand and power tools.
• Operate heavy trucks, haul equipment and heavy machinery as directed.
• Assist with digging, backfilling excavations and pavement work.
• Assist with repairs to roadways, sidewalks, and curbs.
• Assist with park strip restorations and site clean-up.
• Clean, preps, and paints fire hydrants.
• Support construction crews with assigned tasks and general labor.
