Job summary

Walmart is seeking a maintenance professional to manage exterior facilities operations in Houston, TX. You will oversee department activities, coordinate with Home Office, and lead third-party providers to ensure safety, quality, and cost efficiency.

The role requires 2 years of landscaping experience, a valid driver’s license, and DOT medical certification. You will address customer needs and uphold Walmart policies in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license.
• No DUI/DWI/OUI or severe violations in last 3 years.
• No more than two moving violations in last 3 years for CMV.
• DOT physical/medical certification pre-hire required.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• 2 years’ landscaping/gardening experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate a department.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Promote compliance with Walmart policies and ethics.
• Use Open Door Policy.
• Assist management with ethics/compliance issues.
• Follow OSHA/EPA guidelines per Walmart policies.
• Conduct cost comparisons to control costs.
• Submit warranty claims.
• Lead third-party providers.
• Coach and evaluate staff.
• Direct QA inspections.
• Troubleshoot and assist with event needs; resolve customer problems.
• Maintain clean, safe facility for associates.
• Assess replacement needs for landscaping assets.
• Implement upgrades for sustainability.
• Identify cost-saving improvements.
• Coordinate with Home Office to standardize equipment and reduce stock.
• Source tools and equipment for repairs.
• Ensure quality and safety of completed work.
• Operate heavy machinery.
• Prepare and manage budgets for projects.
• Approve purchases and provide technical purchasing assistance.
• Verify purchases and insure asset documentation.
• Gather capex lists and scopes of work for assets.
• Identify other service issues.
• Seasonal exterior maintenance including snow/ice management.
• Maintain vehicles mechanically and clean.
• Arrange vehicle maintenance and secure documents.
• Safely operate vehicles and ensure required documents.
• Check fuel/water levels and vehicle signals.
• Submit maintenance invoices.
• Verify vehicle insurance coverage.
• Wear Walmart uniform and badge.
• Operate, inspect and safely use heavy equipment.
• Perform pre/post-operation safety checks.
• Identify unsafe conditions and hazards; take corrective action.
