Job summary

Hurt & Proffitt is seeking an Erosion & Sediment Control Inspector to ensure construction sites comply with Virginia environmental regulations. You will conduct field inspections, review control plans, document findings and travel to sites, often solo, using a company vehicle.

This role requires a high school diploma (associates or bachelor's preferred), a Virginia driver’s license with 3+ years driving experience, and DEQ ESC certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate/bachelor's preferred.
• Virginia DEQ Stormwater and ESC certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections at construction sites to verify compliance with erosion and sediment control permits.
• Inspect erosion control measures such as silt fences, sediment basins, perimeter controls, and grading activities.
• Review erosion and sediment control plans to meet Virginia regulations.
• Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports.
• Update project and construction documentation.
• Perform post-construction inspections.
• Stay current on Virginia environmental laws and regulations.
• Travel to job sites, often independently, using a company vehicle.
