Job summary

The National Center for Outdoor & Adventure Education in Wilmington, NC seeks a hands-on Program Director to oversee planning, staffing, implementation and evaluation of outdoor education programs. You will lead program operations, staff development, risk management and budget oversight at the Wilmington campus while maintaining high-quality educational experiences.

Qualifications

• Must be detailed oriented and organized.
• Create and maintain a welcoming student environment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Two years administrative experience in recreation, camp, outdoor education, or related field.
• Experience managing participant records.
• Excellent oral and written communication, including public presentation.
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency learning new software applications.
• Fluency in additional languages (Spanish) is a plus.
• Experience with invoicing and office machinery.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, preparation, completion, and evaluation of programs.
• Ensure programs meet educational, operational and risk management standards.
• Supervise Program Coordinator; oversee logistics, food, equipment, and facilities.
• Manage program budgets, resource allocation, and expenses.
• Support curriculum development and program improvement.
• Lead recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and evaluation of instructors.
• Oversee risk management, emergency response, and field operations.
• Travel to program locations and represent the campus with partners.
• Attend industry conferences and develop partnerships.
