Job summary

Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines is seeking a Program Director - Outdoor to lead outdoor learning experiences across 41 counties in NC.

You will collaborate with staff, volunteers, and partners to design, implement, and evaluate innovative outdoor programs aligned with GSLE and council goals, ensuring safe, inclusive, and impactful experiences that deepen girls' courage, confidence, and character.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Outdoor Education, Youth Development, Nonprofit Management, Education, or related field.
• Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in youth development, outdoor recreation, experiential education, or program management.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that serve youth and volunteers.
• Experience leading teams, volunteers, projects, or cross-functional initiatives preferred.
• Knowledge of outdoor recreation, risk management, and youth development best practices.
• Strong project management, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
• Ability to travel throughout the council service area.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of outdoor programs, camps, and experiences.
• Serve as SME in outdoor programming, experiential learning, and leadership development.
• Support staff and volunteers in delivering outdoor programs and camps.
• Develop and oversee program resources, including curriculum, patch programs, and learning tools.
• Ensure quality, accessibility, and consistency of outdoor programming across communities.
• Develop leadership pathways for older girls through programs and volunteers-in-training.
• Build partnerships with community organizations and educational institutions.
• Collaborate across departments to support membership growth and fundraising.
• Oversee program safety, risk management, and compliance with GSUSA standards.
• Manage program budgets and resources for fiscal responsibility.
• Measure outcomes and adapt programs based on data.
• Promote customer service and positive relationships with members and partners.
• Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging in all programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
