Job summary

Punahou School is seeking an Outdoor Education Resource Assistant to help deliver high-quality, safe outdoor learning experiences on and off campus. You will assist in planning, preparing, and facilitating activities while emphasizing safety, inclusivity, and stewardship of Hawai‘i’s natural and cultural environments.

The role involves coordinating logistics, supervising students of diverse backgrounds, and maintaining gear and records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Experience with overnight programs or residential camps.
• Two years of related experience, preferably in a school setting.
• Familiarity with outdoor education programs and SEL core competencies.
• Strong leadership and group-management skills; positive role model.

Responsibilities

• Support on-campus and off-campus/outdoor experiences.
• Assist planning, preparing, and facilitating age-appropriate outdoor activities.
• Promote student safety and well-being through supervision and role-modeling.
• Maintain program records, gear, and supplies; keep spaces organized and clean.
• Support risk management and emergency procedures.
• Collaborate on logistics, scheduling, and program improvements.
