Job summary

Penn State University is seeking an Outdoor Adventures Activity Specialist to supervise operations of a specific activity or facility and to serve as a subject expert with demonstrated skills.

This role involves managing high-risk activities, providing high-quality staff training, creating lesson plans, selecting sites, and possibly driving university vehicles. Overnight shifts at Stone Valley Recreation Area or in the field may be required.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Outdoor Leadership Training Course (OLTC) or equivalent outdoor leadership training.
• Wilderness First Aid (WFA) & CPR/AED certification or higher; WFR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise operations of a specific activity/facility and act as a subject expert.
• Manage high-risk activities and support part-time staff.
• Provide high-quality staff training and develop lesson plans with clear learning outcomes.
• Select suitable sites for instruction and adapt to environmental factors.
• May drive university vehicles and trailers; overnight shifts possible at Stone Valley Recreation Area or in the field.
