Job summary

School Administrative Unit 53 is seeking an Out-of-District Special Education Coordinator and Court Liaison to oversee special education services, IEP coordination, and court-related liaison work for students in SAU 53 communities.

The role requires experience with specially designed instruction, collaboration with families, and compliance with special education laws and Least Restrictive Environment guidelines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of special education regulations, procedures, and diverse student needs.
• Ability to manage complex cases and coordinate multi-agency services.
• Excellent communication with families, school teams, and court systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as LEA representative and case manager for students in Out-of-District placements.
• Oversee IEP development and service coordination.
• Visit out-of-district placements to determine appropriate settings and attend meetings.
• Maintain organization of all Out-of-District files and paperwork.
• Support students and families to promote academic and social-emotional success in specialized environments.
• Collaborate with special education staff, courts, agencies, and parents to address student needs.
• Deliver specially designed instruction.
