Job summary

Spur Freight is seeking an OTR Driver with a CDL Class A to operate commercial trucks and trailers. You will safely load, deliver, and pick up parcels across regional routes while maintaining accurate logs and compliance with DOT regulations.

Responsibilities include pre/post-trip inspections, paperwork accuracy, and timely communication with supervision. A strong safety mindset and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Drive truck to destinations safely and follow all laws and DOT regulations
  • Maintain safety and compliance; report incidents in real time
  • Perform basic fleet maintenance and inspect truck before/after trips
  • Prepare receipt for load and bill of lading
  • Maintain hours-of-service using electronic logs (ELD) and observe rest periods
  • Ensure compliance with DOT and other regulations
  • Communicate status of daily routes with supervisor
  • Ensure on-time delivery by planning around delays and breaks
  • Inspect equipment and verify paperwork details with signatures
  • May load/unload and operate forklift when not driving
  • Destination may be Short Haul or Long Haul
  • Maintain clean work environment and safety policies

Overview

The OTR Driver will operate commercial truck/trailer, tractor trailer or combination vehicle (a vehicle that weighs over 26,001 lbs.)


that requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A to pick-up and deliver parcels. AIT/ Spur Drivers are responsible for


safely and accurately deliver and pickup cargo, keep accurate driving log- ELD and for inspect and maintain the company trucks.


Responsibilities


  • Drive truck to and from specified destinations safely and follow all state, local laws, and DOT regulations

  • Focuses on safety and compliance including the real time reporting of any accidents, incidents encountered on the road, monitoring of road conditions and following all applicable traffic laws

  • Handles general fleet maintenance including appropriate fueling, cleaning of truck, washing of windows, full inspection of truck before and after trip and proactive reporting of any maintenance needs

  • Prepare receipt for load picked up or bill of lading

  • Maintain driver hours of service using electronics logs and ensures rest periods according to state and federal regulations

  • Maintains and ensures compliance with DOT and other applicable regulations, including State or Federal regulations

  • Provides timely communication with supervisor/ manager regarding the status of daily route; including, when stops have been completed, when taking lunch or other breaks, and prior to clocking out

  • Ensures timeliness of client delivery by proactively anticipating any delivery challenges and ensuring timely departure

  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies. Ensure time, date, verification, and signature on all freight paperwork

  • Perform emergency roadside repairs, secure cargo with proper equipment; load bars, e-track, and straps during transit

  • May load and unload truck when not driving the truck

  • May operate a forklift or pallet jack when not driving the truck

  • Destination may be either Short Haul or Long Haul

  • Maintain a clean work environment and follow safety policies

Licenses and Certifications



  • CDL - Group A - Commercial Drivers License - Must have a valid CDL A to drive a truck 26,001 lbs. or greater


  • Must be a TSA-certified truck driver and obtain a STA number

  • Maintain a current Department of Transportation Medical Card

  • Have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)

  • Be able to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam and road test

  • Cargo screening is required if driving in CA

  • No more than three (3) moving violations in the past 36 months (or combination of two


    (2) moving violations previous 12 months. Moving violations include seatbelt and cell


    phone violations


  • No preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated away from the scene,


    or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within three years


  • Has no conviction for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs violation


    within the past seven (7) years
