Job summary

AIT Worldwide Logistics is seeking a Dispatcher I II in Massachusetts to oversee the pickup and delivery of local shipments and coordinate information between drivers and delivery agents. Flexible start times and possible weekend hours may be offered.

The role requires documenting shipments in MyAIT and AS400, coordinating routing with dock staff, and delivering strong customer service to meet client needs in a dynamic logistics environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • 5–7 years in freight forwarding or related customer service/operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AS400 experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customers and drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Route local freight, dispatch drivers, perform dock checks, track shipments and coordinate with dock staff to move freight.
  • Enter shipment milestones in MyAIT & AS400 (pickup, delivery, proof of delivery) promptly.
  • Provide customer service to identify and meet specific needs; address inquiries or concerns.
  • Assign driver load planning based on local mapping and appointments.
  • Identify and coordinate prioritization of rushed, urgent, and last-minute shipments.

Overview

The Dispatcher I II is responsible for overseeing and documenting the pickup and delivery of local shipments, as well as coordinating and communicating shipment information between drivers and delivery agents. Flexible start time and possible extra hours on weekends may be offered.

Responsibilities
  • Routing local freight, dispatching drivers, performing dock checks, tracking shipments, and working with dock staff to ensure movement of freight.
  • Timely entry of shipment milestones into the MyAIT & AS400 tracking system — pickup, delivery, proof of delivery.
  • Providing customer service to identify and meet specific customer needs; answering or making customer inquiry calls and addressing concerns or complaints.
  • Assigning driver load planning based on local mapping and appointments.
  • Identifying and coordinating the prioritization of rushed, urgent, and last‑minute shipments.
  • Other duties as assigned based on business demands.
  • Wage range for this position is $29.00–$40.90 and may vary by geography and experience.

Other Skills We Hope to See
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • 5–7 years in Freight Forwarding industry experience preferred, or experience in customer service/operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience working with AS400 preferred.
  • Strong problem‑solving and multi‑tasking skills with ability to develop new ideas and innovative solutions.
  • High attention to detail and organization.
  • Strong geographic and mapping skills; sense of direction and coordination to build routes.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with customers, drivers, and co‑workers; communication is key.
