Job summary

Carpenter Co. in Temple, Texas seeks an Over The Road (OTR) Driver to deliver finished products to customers safely and on time, following all regulations.

You will coordinate with the Traffic Department and external customers, maintain logs, and drive in various weather conditions. Overnight trips and flexible hours are possible as part of this role.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL required or equivalent; valid CDL license.
• DOT physical and certified drug test required.
• Two or more years of experience in driving/OTR work.
• Texas driving record must be acceptable and insurable.
• Ability to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends, and call-ins.
• Accurate log and paperwork management required.
• Must unload finished products at destinations as needed.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Carpenter Co. policies and weather-aware driving.

Carpenter Company has an immediate opening for an Over The Road (OTR) Driver in the Traffic Department at our Temple, Texas manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining a company vehicle to deliver finished products to external customers safely, on time, and following Company policies and government regulations within a defined geographic delivery area.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As an OTR Driver, you will have daily communication with the Department Manager, Traffic Coordinator, and external customers. You must project a positive professional image to customers at all times. As an OTR Driver you must drive safely in all kinds of weather. Major challenges include the safe on time delivery of finished products to customers within Department of Transportation Regulations and Carpenter Company Policies. Occasional overnight delivery and multiple days are required.

Skills/Requirements

• Must have two (2) or more years of experience for this position.
• Must have a Class A CDL, pass a DOT Physical examination and a certified drug test.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills are required.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, holidays, weekend, and call-in with little notice.
• Must be able to deliver any finished products to any customer that is required.
• Must adhere to all Department of Transportation regulations and practice safe driving techniques.
• Must have an acceptable Texas driving record and be insurable.
• Filling out the proper paperwork and bills of lading is a requirement for the position.
• Must maintain accurate logs to include daily work logs and run logs.
• Maintain equipment in proper working order to include pre-trip safety checks and minor truck repairs.
• Must know and understand all Carpenter Company rules to include safety regulations, attendance, and personal conduct.
• Must report all conditions that might affect the safe operation of the tractor and trailer.
• Must unload finished product at each destination as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
