Job summary

Carpenter Co. is seeking an experienced Over The Road driver for our Temple, Texas operation. You will operate and maintain a company vehicle to deliver finished products to external customers safely and on schedule, while adhering to DOT regulations and Carpenter policies.

You will communicate with the Traffic Department and customers, perform pre-trip checks, maintain accurate logs, and handle bills of lading. Occasional overnight trips may be required, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Two (2) or more years of experience.
• Must have a Class A CDL.
• Must pass a DOT Physical examination.
• Certified drug test.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills required.
• Must work flexible hours, holidays, weekends, and call-in with little notice.
• Must deliver finished products to customers as required.
• Must adhere to DOT regulations and safety practices.
• Must have a Texas driving record that is insurable.
• Must complete paperwork and bills of lading.
• Must maintain logs (daily work and run logs).
• Must maintain equipment with pre-trip checks and minor repairs.
• Must follow Carpenter Company rules and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to DOT regulations and Carpenter policies; ensure safe driving.

• Unload finished product at each destination as required.

Carpenter Company has an immediate opening for an Over The Road (OTR) Driver in the Traffic Department at our Temple, Texas manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining a company vehicle to deliver finished products to external customers safely, on time, and following Company policies and government regulations within a defined geographic delivery area.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As an OTR Driver, you will have daily communication with the Department Manager, Traffic Coordinator, and external customers. You must project a positive professional image to customers at all times. As an OTR Driver you must drive safely in all kinds of weather. Major challenges include the safe on time delivery of finished products to customers within Department of Transportation Regulations and Carpenter Company Policies. Occasional overnight delivery and multiple days are required.

Skills/Requirements

• Must have two (2) or more years of experience for this position.
• Must have a Class A CDL, pass a DOT Physical examination and a certified drug test.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills are required.

• Must be able to deliver any finished products to any customer that is required.
• Must adhere to all Department of Transportation regulations and practice safe driving techniques.
• Must have an acceptable Texas driving record and be insurable.
• Filling out the proper paperwork and bills of lading is a requirement for the position.
• Must maintain accurate logs to include daily work logs and run logs.
• Maintain equipment in proper working order to include pre-trip safety checks and minor truck repairs.
• Must know and understand all Carpenter Company rules to include safety regulations, attendance, and personal conduct.
• Must report all conditions that might affect the safe operation of the tractor and trailer.
• Must unload finished product at each destination as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
