Job summary

TA Services is seeking a professional CDL-A driver to transport steel products and manage loads across multiple locations from the Midlothian facility. You will perform driver pre-trip and post-trip inspections and ensure safe cargo securement in all conditions.

Responsibilities include unloading coordination, tarping when required, and strict adherence to DOT regulations. A minimum of one year of Class A experience and a clean driving record are expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Minimum of one year of Class A driving experience.
  • Must be at least 23 years old.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe cargo securement.
  • Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic maintenance.
  • Successfully pass a DOT-required pre-employment physical and drug screening.
  • No DUI or DWI convictions within the past three years; no more than one at-fault accident in the past three years.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport steel products to customer locations and return scrap metal and crushed vehicles to the Midlothian facility.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete light preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Secure loads, including tarping when required by customer specifications or load requirements.

  • Maneuver trucks and trailers into loading and unloading positions, complete drop-and-hook deliveries, and report any vehicle defects, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.

Work Environment

  • Frequent driving and extended periods of sitting.
  • Regular loading and unloading at customer and company locations.
  • Work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Requires operation of commercial tractor-trailers and interaction with customers, dispatch, and warehouse personnel.
  • Position requires adherence to strict safety standards and DOT regulations.

Days and Shift Information

  • Full-time position
  • Must maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time for all scheduled shifts
  • Drivers are expected to complete a minimum of three round trips per week

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.

Experience

  • Minimum of one year of Class A commercial driving experience.
  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Experience with drop-and-hook deliveries preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and safe cargo securement practices.
  • Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Successfully pass a DOT-required pre-employment physical and drug screening in accordance with 49 CFR Parts 391 and 40.
  • No DUI or DWI convictions within the past three years.
  • No more than one at-fault accident within the past three years.
