Job summary

MAT Express is seeking a customer-focused team member for a full-time, in-office role in San Diego. You will verify pickups and deliveries, dispatch drivers, and maintain accurate records while communicating professionally via phone and email.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of customer service experience and a proactive, resourceful approach to logistics challenges. Training may occur at a nearby San Diego location, with standard weekday hours.

Responsibilities

• Keep customers informed about freight status, shipping dates and times via phone or email.

• Coordinate and dispatch pickups and deliveries considering destination, route, rate and timing.
• Verify items shipped by matching bills of lading and note discrepancies.
• Document damaged items, shortages, and mis-shipments.
• Update knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Take ownership for new requests and look for opportunities to add value.

GENERAL INFORMATION

MAT Express is a leading freight transportation Company headquartered in San Diego servicing Southern California and beyond. Family-owned and operated for nearly 40 years with terminals in San Diego, Los Angeles, Otay Mesa, and Imperial Counties. We are seeking customer forward, long-term career oriented individuals wanting to grow within our Company and become leaders. While a good attitude is oftentimes more important than experience, candidates with prior air freight, port, and/or or logistical experience may have priority consideration.

Compensation: Starting at $20.00 hourly.

Job Status: Full-time.

Schedule: Work from MAT OEF (2290 Enrico Fermi, San Diego, 92154). May have to train at a different location within San Diego City limits. Generally Monday through Friday starting at 12:30PM; 8 hours shifts. Weekends and holidays as scheduled and required.

Summary: Provide excellent customer service by verifying pick up and deliveries, dispathching drivers, accurate data entry / record keeping, and professional correspondence (phone and email).

Requirements

• Our ideal candidate would also have trucking and logistics experience.
