Job summary

ENGIE North America Inc. is seeking an OT Systems Administrator to support the University of Iowa campus utility infrastructure in Iowa City.

You will own and administer the OT network, SCADA/HMI, OPC servers, historian platforms, and virtualization while driving reliability and cybersecurity across a complex ICS environment. The role requires five years of OT/ICS experience, a related degree, and the ability to work on-site daily.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on OT/ICS/SCADA experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent)
  • Experience administering Windows Server and Active Directory in OT environments
  • Knowledge of OT cybersecurity, network segmentation, patch management, and disaster recovery

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain OT infrastructure including AD, OPC servers, historian platforms, SCADA/HMI, and virtualization
  • Manage access, cybersecurity controls, patching, and endpoint security for OT environment
  • Ensure reliability and resiliency of critical control systems, outages, and disaster recovery planning
  • Support SCADA/HMI, historian, and data management to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Develop testing environments, change control, and preventive maintenance to reduce operational risk
  • Troubleshoot complex OT issues and collaborate with Operations, IT, vendors, and projects

Job description

At ENGIE, we believe the energy transition starts with people who bring purpose to their work every day. As an Operational Technology (OT) Systems Administrator, you will help support the critical utility infrastructure serving the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City.

You will serve as the primary administrator and technical owner of the OT infrastructure supporting a highly integrated utility network that monitors and controls more than 500,000 points across electrical, steam, chilled water, and water systems.

In this role, you will help drive system reliability, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, modernization, and long-term operational excellence across a complex industrial control system (ICS) environment. Your work will directly influence the availability, security, and performance of the infrastructure powering one of the nation's leading research universities.

What You'll Do
  • Administer and maintain OT infrastructure including Active Directory, OPC servers, historian platforms, SCADA/HMI systems, virtualized environments, engineering workstations, and utility application servers
  • Manage user access, cybersecurity controls, patch management, endpoint protection, and network segmentation to support a secure and compliant OT environment
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and resiliency of critical control systems through monitoring, failover testing, backup administration, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity practices
  • Support SCADA/HMI, historian, and data management systems to ensure the integrity and availability of operational, billing, compliance, and performance data
  • Manage virtualized OT environments and supporting technologies, including remote access platforms, licensing systems, file services, and engineering tools
  • Develop and maintain testing environments, change management processes, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce operational risk and strengthen system performance
  • Troubleshoot complex OT system issues and partner with Operations, IT, vendors, and project teams to support infrastructure modernization, capital projects, technical standards, and documentation
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education, military training, certifications, and relevant experience will be considered
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience supporting Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA, mission-critical operational systems, or other critical infrastructure environments
  • Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization platforms, and enterprise security within OT or industrial environments
  • Experience supporting SCADA, HMI, OPC, historian, or industrial automation systems, including system reliability, cybersecurity, and performance initiatives
  • Knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles, network segmentation, patch management, endpoint security, disaster recovery, business continuity, and system readiness practices
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, documentation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently manage priorities, operate in high-consequence environments, and resolve complex technical issues
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across operations, engineering, IT, vendors, leadership teams, and other multidisciplinary stakeholders
  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
  • Must possess a valid U.S.\'s driver's license/clean driving record; to drive company owned vehicles while on campus

  • Capable of frequently standing; walking; balancing; sitting; climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks, and the like as required); kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting (min. 50 lbs.)
  • May need to provide off-hours support to keep critical systems operational through failure events
  • Physically capable of hearing alarms, detecting equipment noise changes, and communicating via radio
  • Required to wear PPE including respirators, fall protection, hard hat, safety shoes, and safety glasses
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • This position consists of 10% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
Compensation

Salary Range: $88,800 - $136,045 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
