Job summary

PureHealth is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide OT services in accordance with Texas laws and the company's compliance program. The OT will treat patients with advanced clinical reasoning and supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants as applicable.

The role supports both inpatient and outpatient settings with patient care documentation, treatment planning, and education for families and caregivers. This PRN position offers flexible pay tied to experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program required.
  • Valid Texas OT license required.
  • Excellent communication, documentation and clinical skills expected.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in inpatient or outpatient settings.
  • Evaluate patients and develop OT care plans.
  • Supervise COTA as applicable.
  • Complete assessments, progress notes and discharge summaries.

Position Summary

To provide occupational therapy services in complies with laws and regulations applicable to this position and act in accordance with PureHealth's Corporate Compliance Program. The Occupational Therapist is to preform patient care tasks under minimal supervision with advanced skills in clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and treatment interventions. Evaluate and treats patients, as well as provide direction and supervision of Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants as indicated within the Texas licensing Board and American Occupational Therapy Association scope of practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care that meets department and professional standards of practice, including costumer evaluation and assessment, development of occupational therapy care plan, patient treatment, family/caregiver training, and discharge planning. May serve as a clinician in both the inpatient and outpatient settings

  • Evaluates for, recommends, applies, and educates patient on prosthetic, supportive devices, and equipment as appropriate

  • Participate in clinical teaching, including the clinical instruction of occupational therapy interns/students

  • Preforms all necessary patient care documentation, including assessments, plan of care, progress notes, discharge summaries, and charges for evaluation and treatment. Documentation must reflect patient status, progress, and changes

  • Schedules and maintains assigned patient caseload consistent with department productivity standards

  • Informs supervisor is problems arise related to the delivery of patient care or caseload volume

  • Ensures documentation and billing are timely, accurate, and complete, including evaluations, re-certifications, progress notes, and discharge summaries

  • Identifies need for equipment repair or upgrade to maintain quality of care

  • Attends and participates in in-service training

Work Environment

This job operates in a post-acute setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Team member is expected to adhere to facility’s no-smoking policy.

Physical Demands

While preforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds.
