Director of Development and Program Operations at Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Full-Time OST Program Director to lead, manage, and oversee the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) After-School and Summer Program. The Program Director will be responsible for youth recruitment, enrollment, retention, and ensuring compliance with program contracts. Additionally, they will recruit, interview, train, and manage teaching artists. The role requires a strong focus on curriculum development and implementation, delivering engaging activities that promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and Career-Readiness for youth in grades 3-8.

About Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership (PAEP)

Our mission is to promote lifelong learning through the arts for Pre-K to grade 12 students, seniors, and special populations across southeastern Pennsylvania. We believe the arts are essential to comprehensive education and strive for excellence in arts education practice.

The Program Director will oversee the 21st Century Program at the following schools:

  • James G. Blaine
  • Anna L. Lingelbach
  • Andrew J. Morrison
  • Penrose
  • Allen M. Stearne
  • William H. Ziegler
  • Castor Gardens
  • General George G. Meade

Essential Qualifications:

  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel across multiple sites
  • Ability to travel within Philadelphia and attend conferences or training requiring overnight stays
  • Availability for occasional weekends and evenings
  • Experience working with diverse youth populations
  • Supervisory experience and ability to manage youth exhibiting challenging behaviors
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Experience managing programs, curriculum planning, and staff support
  • Strong leadership, creativity, and problem-solving skills
  • CPR/First Aid certification (must complete if not already certified)
  • Pass background checks including PA State Criminal, Child Abuse, National Sex Offender Registry, and FBI fingerprinting

Key Responsibilities:

Youth Recruitment, Enrollment, and Retention

  • Develop strategies for recruiting and maintaining student enrollment
  • Build relationships with school staff, families, and community partners to promote participation
  • Monitor attendance and retention data, and implement engagement strategies

Curriculum Development and Implementation

  • Deliver curricula incorporating STEAM, SEL, and career-connected activities
  • Plan interactive and reflective learning sessions tailored to diverse learners

Program Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to 21st CCLC standards and regulations
  • Assess and adapt programming based on feedback and data

Engagement and Family Involvement

  • Organize family events and communication strategies to foster community
  • Coordinate student achievement showcases and family participation activities

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Track and report program metrics such as attendance and engagement
  • Ensure timely submission of reports and updates to leadership

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee daily program operations and staff management
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders and ensure program compliance and budget adherence
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Education, Experience, & Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts, education, social/human services, child development, or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of teaching or 2 years in afterschool program administration
  • Knowledge of 21st Century Grant Program delivery, staff management, budget oversight, and compliance
  • Experience designing STEAM, PBL, and SEL curricula
  • Familiarity with school safety standards and quality care standards
  • Experience building partnerships with community, advocacy, and government organizations
  • Experience working collaboratively in high-performance teams
