THIS POSITION IS ASSIGNED TO THE OFFICE OF SUPPORT SERVICES.

Performs responsible management, law enforcement, and administrative duties in the Office of Support Services Logistics Unit, under supervision of the Captain of Law Enforcement Logistics and Fleet, and under the direction of the Director of Support Services. Assists division leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing all Support Services Law Enforcement Logistics functions and other law enforcement details as needed. Assumes all duties and responsibilities in the absence of division leadership. Ensures requisitions for purchases are complete, accurate, and in compliance with applicable contracts for submission to the agency’s Procurement Office.

  1. Responsible for the overall performance of the Law Enforcement (Patrol Supply) Warehouse, including staffing, inventory levels, reorder points, and safe warehouse operations.
  2. Ensures inventory cycle counts are completed by staff and conducts random inventory audits.
  3. Approves processes and documentation for research and development trials on new products. Assigns trials to appropriate staff.
  4. Provides oversight to the Radio Communications Team. Assists with radio issues when the team is short-handed or busy. Approves plans and process changes, including templates, to be initiated by the team.
  5. Supervises the Agency Armorer (Sergeant), Law Enforcement Supply Warehouse Manager (First Sergeant), and Radio Communications Manager (Senior Consultant). Completes EPMS for direct reports and reviews EPMS for those under supervision.
  6. Enforces criminal laws, responds to civil unrest, natural disasters, and performs other law enforcement duties as necessary. Guides less experienced officers. Maintains proper uniform, equipment, and sensitive items. Manages public funds and physical evidence responsibly.

State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and experience supervising law enforcement personnel at a public law enforcement agency.

Agency Minimum Requirements:

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of continuous service as a SCDPS Sergeant or First Sergeant.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Possession and maintenance of SC Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer certifications and applicable DPS law enforcement service certifications.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with basic warehouse processes.
  • Knowledge of agency policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and program services including asset management, procurement, and state fiscal responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations related to the department and its divisions.
  • Responsibility for managing diverse administrative functions related to law enforcement supplies, warehousing, armory, and communications.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Supervision of team leads and program services.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion, maintaining confidentiality on sensitive issues.
  • Availability to respond to critical incidents or situations outside normal hours when necessary.
