ALLO Communications in Omaha, NE is seeking an OSP Technician to safely build, splice, test, and maintain our all-fiber network. You will collaborate with leadership and subject-matter experts to stay current with procedures and meet project milestones.

Responsibilities

• Test fiber in the field and troubleshoot with test equipment.

ALLO OSP Techs will work closely with Leadership and Subject Matter Experts in their assigned content areas to stay current with procedures and processes.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Install/blow locate string line in underground conduit systemsUse motorized equipment to pull fiber cable/MST’s through underground conduit systemsExcavate with shovelsRestore disturbed soil/ grass/landscapingVerify accuracy and document any discrepancies or fiber changes relating to the installation of string, multi-service terminals (MSTs) or cablePrepare all field reports relating to work accomplished accurately and timelyOperate and maintain company owned vehicles, complete driver logs and vehicle documentsOperate hydraulic aerial lifts (buckets) and climb laddersSplice all fiber counts to 864F and multiple MSTs in all enclosuresUpdate splice documentationUse SmartSheetsSet up of aerial and underground splice points to include taping, directional marking, grounding, cable management tray installation, hanging cases and securing in vaultUnderstand basic knowledge of aerial and underground cable and MST installationTest fiber in the fieldTroubleshoot with test equipment: power meter, VFL, traffic identifierPerform basic underground plant maintenanceCoordinate and oversee vehicle, trailer, and equipment maintenance as neededMaintain clean driving recordLocate fiber – complete Fiber Locating Course (market dependent)Perform QA/QC of network facilitiesWork overtime as needed; may be required to work long hours during emergency situations including after-hours restorationsPerform other duties as assignedEDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent EXPERIENCE: 1 year telecommunication experience preferred SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Service Excellence Oral communications Written communications Work with SmartSheets and Excel spreadsheets Manage multiple priorities Decision making Critical thinking High energy Engaging demeanor REQUIREMENTS: Raise objects up to 50 lbs Remain upright on feet for extended periods Remain stationary for extended periods Ability to communicate information Ability to crouch and crawl Move on foot up to 10 miles per day Ability to bend, kneel, and stand Ability to crawl in tight spaces Ability to ascend/descend a ladder Ability to carry tools and equipment Ability to operate a computer Ability to observe details at far range Ability to operate hand tools and equipment Ability to operate machinery Ability to work in outdoor weather Identify different colors DOT Physical/Certification Possess a valid driver's license Travel up to 50%People are our passion.
