• Experience managing engineering vendors and construction contractors
• Ability to review engineering designs and answer complex routing, constructability, and network design questions
• Player-coach leadership style with the ability to mentor and support field operations personnel
• Comfortable participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical network events

Responsibilities

• Participate in critical outage response and restoration efforts

Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Manager of OSP Engineering & Operations to lead OSP engineering efforts across the Ohio while managing a team of two Operations Technicians. This individual will serve as the primary technical authority for fiber network engineering, outage response, contractor oversight, and engineering standards. The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of direct OSP engineering experience and is comfortable operating in a player-coach environment where they can lead while remaining hands‑on technically. Responsibilities include managing network outages, supporting Tier II engineering escalations, reviewing contractor designs, and providing guidance on fiber network construction and operations.

Compensation: $45/hr - $55/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 9+ years of direct OSP Fiber Engineering experience
• Experience supporting large-scale fiber optic network builds and operations
• Experience leading small engineering, operations, or field technical teams
• Strong understanding of aerial and underground fiber construction methods, conduit design, and network infrastructure
• Experience serving as a technical escalation point during network outages and service-impacting events

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Experience working for a telecommunications carrier, fiber provider, or ISP
• Experience leading field operations, network operations, or OSP technical teams
• Experience developing and enforcing OSP engineering standards and best practices
• Experience managing network outages, restoration efforts, and operational escalations
