Job summary

Metronet in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks an OSP Field Supervisor to lead safe, high-quality construction of our fiber network. You will inspect aerial and underground work, enforce standards, and manage contractor performance while engaging with the community to resolve issues.

This role emphasizes safety, documentation, and timely response to strikes, with on-site leadership of crews and ongoing coordination with internal teams to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to maintain accuracy and organize multiple tasks.
• Experience in quality control and outdoor aerial/construction work preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and diplomacy skills.
• Capable of working independently under deadlines and in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of specifications, practices, and safety standards.
• Inspect aerial fiber placement on poles and underground conduit and handholes.
• Approve completed aerial work to Metronet standards.
• Manage the OSP Construction Tracker and monitor budgets for work orders.
• Respond to utility strikes, investigate, document within 24 hours, and retrain or terminate contractors as needed.
• Conduct weekly safety and quality audits of contractors and arrange trainings.
