Job summary

Consertus is seeking an Engineer (II) for Outside Plant fiber networks in the Cambridge area to design and engineer networks for residential, commercial, and municipal deployments. You will draft detailed drawings, fiber routing, and splice diagrams using Bentley MicroStation V8i, while interpreting service orders and conducting field surveys.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of OSP experience, proficiency with Bentley MicroStation, and knowledge of RUS/BICSI/NESC standards.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of OSP fiber network engineering and design experience.
• Proficient in Bentley MicroStation V8i or a similar platform, MS Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, construction methods, and industry standards (e.g., RUS, BICSI, NESC).
• Experience processing service orders and generating engineering packages for construction.
• Familiarity with GIS platforms, CAD tools, and fiber management systems is a plus.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Land Use, Urban Planning, GIS, or related field preferred; or Associate's degree in Computer Aided Design required.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer outside plant fiber optic networks for residential, commercial, and municipal deployments.
• Create detailed construction drawings, fiber routing plans, and splice diagrams using Bentley MicroStation V8i.
• Interpret service orders and translate them into actionable engineering deliverables.
• Conduct field surveys and validate existing infrastructure for integration into new designs.
• Maintain documentation and records in accordance with company and client standards.
