Job summary

Ziply Fiber in Everett, WA seeks a Manager, Outside Plant Engineering to lead an OSP team of employees and vendors, ensuring designs meet standards, budgets, and schedules. This role requires strong teamwork across Construction and other departments.

You will manage work orders, permits, and contractor invoices, coordinate with municipalities and utilities, and mentor staff while upholding safety and quality. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of eight (6) years of outside plant (OSP) experience, including quoting, permitting and other pre-construction activities.
• Developed leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and lead others.
• Experience using fiber optic network documentation tools.
• Advanced understanding of the permitting process for railroad, DOT, cities, counties, and pole owners.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, autoinsurance, and satisfactory driving record.
• Must complete a pre-employment drug screening.
• Experience managing capital budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead an Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering team and provide leadership and mentorship through coaching, feedback, development goals and performance management.
• Accountable for the staffing, schedules and compliance associated with OSP engineering and construction activities, along with the safety and quality of work performed.
• Oversee production of all engineering workorders within an assigned geographic area. Ensure engineering work orders are designed in compliance with all company standards, NESC, and municipal requirements, as well as public ROW or utility easements.
• Manage Engineering process and documentation through project completion.
• Identify permitting authorities based on proposed routes including municipalities, government entities, utility owners and any other agencies who have authority over the right-of-way in which we are proposing to construct.
• Develop, coordinate, and execute project schedules with contractors, property management, customers, vendors, internal stakeholders, municipalities, and government agencies.
• Coordinate with State, local municipalities, and utilities.
• Verify contractor’s invoices for accuracy and process to AP in a timely manner.
