Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking an OSP Fiber Design Technician to support construction drawings, route maps, and as-built records using AutoCAD and GIS tools. You will produce accurate drawings, maintain GIS datasets, and collaborate with engineers and utilities to meet permitting requirements.

The role favors detail-oriented candidates with an associate degree or equivalent, experience in AutoCAD and GIS, and willingness to conduct field surveys in Mississippi and nearby regions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in engineering, geospatial technology, or related field.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD for utility/telecom drawings.
• Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) for mapping and spatial analysis.
• Basic understanding of fiber OSP concepts (conduit systems, aerial/buried placement, splicing, and terminations).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings.
• Willingness to perform occasional field work and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise OSP fiber design drawings, conduit layouts, splice diagrams, and permitting packages in AutoCAD
• Create and maintain GIS-based route maps, asset inventories, and spatial data for fiber pathways, vaults, and handholes
• Assist with field surveys, redline markups, and conversion of field data into final drawings and GIS layers
• Support BOM development, quantity take-offs, and basic loss-budget calculations
• Coordinate with senior engineers, construction teams, and utilities on design changes and as-built updates
• Ensure drawings and GIS data comply with company standards, TIA/BICSI guidelines, and local permitting requirements

ABOUT THE ROLE:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in engineering, geospatial technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD (preferably Civil 3D or similar) for utility/telecom drawings
• Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent) for mapping and spatial analysis
• Basic understanding of fiber optic OSP concepts (conduit systems, aerial/buried placement, splicing, and terminations)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings
• Willingness to perform occasional field work and site visits

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Prior internship or project experience in telecom, utility, or civil infrastructure
• Familiarity with fiber strand counts, duct banks, and standard OSP construction practices
• Experience with Google Earth, KML/KMZ files, or CAD-to-GIS data exchange
