Job summary

Olsson is seeking an experienced Field Inspector to support fiber/OSP construction through on-site observation, inspection, and documentation across project phases. You will verify quality against plans, manage RFIs and submittals, and ensure compliance with owner specifications.

The role requires travel to sites (100%), strong communication, and the ability to read drawings and specs. A construction-related associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years' experience performing construction inspection specifically with Fiber/OSP.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving history.

Job Description

Olsson provides construction management, administration, and observation services for both public and private projects to assure that work is performed in conformance with project documents. Our construction services include daily observation / inspection, project documentation, submittal review, design support, shop drawing review, payment application review, payroll review, and oversight for materials testing. We provide technically qualified personnel for our clients’ specific project requirements.

In this role, you will assist engineers and construction managers with observation, inspection, and documentation throughout all phases of OSP construction. You will provide expert oversight of construction crews to ensure contractors are placing fiber and related infrastructure according to customer requirements and engineering plans. Responsibilities include acting as the on-site representative during various stages of construction, verifying quality standards, and ensuring compliance with project specifications. Additional duties involve monitoring special inspections and materials testing, managing RFIs and submittals, attending project meetings, and confirming that all quality documentation meets the owner’s requirements. This position requires the ability to work in diverse terrain and weather conditions and will involve 100% travel to job sites.

  • Associate's degree in a construction related field, preferred but not required.
