Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Unit Training Coordinator to lead monthly safety meetings, employee orientation, and all unit training sessions on topics including Bloodborne Pathogens, Chainsaw, CPR, PPE, and more in accordance with safety manuals.

Responsibilities include inspecting facilities for OSHA compliance, coordinating safety programs, maintaining records, and liaising with regulators.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma and 2 years of experience in occupational safety or industrial hygiene.
• Bachelor's degree in public health or related field may substitute for required experience.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs and working in varying environments.

Responsibilities

• Acts as Unit Training Coordinator and schedules monthly safety meetings and employee orientation.
• Conducts or schedules training sessions on Bloodborne Pathogens, Chainsaw, CPR, PPE, Excavation, and other safety topics per policy.
• Inspects facilities for OSHA compliance and maintains safety records and reports.
• Coordinates Hazard Communication Programs and safety data sheets.
• May require overtime, travel, and work outside normal hours during emergencies.
