Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred with a major in occupational safety, industrial management or technology, industrial engineering, industrial arts, engineering operations, or a closely-related curriculum and two years of experience.
• Associate degree in industrial safety and health technology or related curriculum with four years of experience in occupational safety and health inspections.
• Foreign degrees require official U.S. equivalency evaluation and verification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and prepare timely written reports on employee exposures to potentially hazardous conditions.
• Recommend citations when justified by the occupational safety and health laws of North Carolina.
• Travel to conduct on-site inspections of safety-related items and conditions.
• Speak with complainants, employers, state/local agencies, and NCDOL personnel.
• Evaluate and make recommendations on unusual problems; maintain documentation.
