Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a Safety and Environmental program assistant to help coordinate and manage safety and environmental initiatives within District Four. The role focuses on reducing injuries, lowering workers’ compensation costs, and increasing environmental awareness through compliant practices.

You will conduct safety audits, maintain records, administer trainings (New Employee orientation, CPR, First Aid, and more), and support reporting to ensure OSHA, EPA,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A bachelor's degree in public health or related field may substitute for the required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating, organizing, planning, developing and administering Safety and Environmental programs within District Four.
• Conduct routine jobsite safety audits to ensure compliance with safety policies and guidelines.
• Maintain documentation, correspondence, record keeping and verification of compliance and corrective actions.
• Administer Safety and Environmental training programs and enter training records into the Learning Management System.
