Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferably with a major in occupational safety, industrial management, technology or a related field and two years of experience in safety inspections; or Associate's degree with four years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably with a major in occupational safety, industrial management or technology, etc., or an Associate’s degree with two years of experience in inspections; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Applicants enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program will be considered if degree completion by end of current semester.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect workplaces in North Carolina and write timely reports of exposures to hazardous conditions.
  • Recommend issuance of citations when justified by safety laws.
  • Travel to conduct on-site inspections of safety-related items and coordinate with agencies.
  • Ensure inspections comply with the North Carolina Field Information System (FIS) and Field Operations Manual (FOM).
