Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks an Orthotist/Prosthetist to provide tailored orthotic and prosthetic devices and patient care in a hospital-based setting. You will assess patient needs, select materials, fabricate devices, and ensure proper fit and function within a multidisciplinary team.

Applicants must be board-certified, hold a CAAHEP-accredited degree, and meet VA BE requirements. Relocation expenses are reimbursed; work schedule typically aligns with clinical hours in a VA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in orthotics and prosthetics from a CAAHEP-accredited program.
• Board certification by ABC or BOC as orthotist-prosthetist or orthotist/prosthetist.
• Citizenship and English language proficiency as required by VA.
• May qualify under Grandfathering provisions if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate orthotic and/or prosthetic devices and treatment.
• Assess patient needs, develop a treatment plan, and verify fit and function.
• Fabricate, assemble and modify devices for delivery to patients.
• Document treatment plans, progress notes, and integration with care teams.
• Educate patients and caregivers on device use, risks and maintenance.
• Refer and coordinate with higher-level orthotists/prosthetists as needed.
