Qualifications

$1,000 Sign-On Bonus

Recipient must stay with AHN for a minimum of 1 year

Re-Hires may not have worked for AHN within the previous 12 months to qualify

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Assists physicians and extenders in providing proper medical and clerical support for the various orthopedic practice locations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. After appropriate training and documented competency, performs procedures including wound care, dressings, EKGs, removal of sutures/staples, application/removal of orthopedic casts/splints, drawing up injections, vaccines, botox, phlebotomy for PRP, and assisting with ultrasound procedures.
  2. Assists in coordinating patient care under the supervision of the healthcare provider.
  3. Prepares and rooms patients, documenting health information, history, and medications. Accurately interviews patients and orders radiographs per physician protocols.
  4. Documents all pertinent details in the electronic health record, reviews and updates allergy and medication lists, social, medical, and surgical history, and pain screening. May function as a scribe when needed.
  5. Functions as a scribe to maintain clinic workflow when needed.
  6. Performs pre-visit chart management tasks, obtains diagnostic reports, reviews charts, and scans pertinent findings.
  7. Educates patients on wound, pin, cast, and postoperative care as per provider instructions.
  8. Prepares exam rooms, ensures inventory of medical supplies, and maintains stocked treatment areas. Qualified Medical Assistants may administer medications with proper training; Certified Athletic Trainers cannot.
  9. Requires travel to satellite locations to support physicians.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Proof of graduation from an AHN-approved Medical Assistant School within five years, or relevant experience as determined by the company.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 Criminal Background Clearances

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Orthopedic Technician, Medical Assistant, or Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC)
