Locums Orthopedic Surgery Opportunity - Mason City, Iowa (IMLC Accepted)

Start Date: July 1, 2025

Schedule: Full-time locums coverage needed (minimum 2 weeks/month)

Location: Mason City, IA

License: Active IA license or IMLC - Required

Board Certification: Required (Board Eligible not accepted)

Opportunity Highlights:

• Ongoing full-time assignment at a busy regional hub hospital serving a population of 200,000+
• Monday-Friday clinic schedule (8 AM-5 PM) with trauma/orthopedic call coverage
• Join a well-established team: 4 orthopedic surgeons and 7 advanced practice providers
• Strong support structure: 1 nurse per provider, 3 cast techs for 7 providers, plus dedicated surgery schedulers and reception staff
• 2 exam rooms and 3 cast rooms per provider
• Daily practice includes post-op rounding, inpatient and ED consults, and OR responsibilities
• Procedures include total joint replacements, fracture care, sports medicine, and a wide range of orthopedic surgeries
• Teaching opportunities available with internal medicine and family medicine residents, plus PA students

Facility Details:

• Hub hospital with average inpatient census of 160
• EMRs: GE Centricity (clinic) and Epic (hospital) - transitioning to Epic in December
• Full imaging, lab, and pharmacy on-site
• 1:1 provider/nurse ratio ensures efficient workflow

Candidate Requirements:

• Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery - Required
• Available to start by July 1, 2025
• Must commit to at least two weeks per month for ongoing coverage
• Comfortable supervising APPs
