Job summary

Banner Health seeks a Patient Financial Services Representative–Orthopedics in Glendale, AZ. The role coordinates patient flow, handles registrations, verifies insurance, collects liabilities, and provides financial guidance to maximize reimbursements for orthopedic services.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm. The position supports the BTMC Pediatric Ortho Surg department, with a focus on accurate data entry, patient advocacy, and policy compliance in a busy clinic environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Knowledge of patient financial services, financial or insurance industry experience preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision and to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; proficient with common office software.

Responsibilities

• Performs registration/check-in processes and data entry, provides patient information, and collects signatures.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits; assists with pre-certification, referrals, and authorizations.
• Calculates and collects patient liability; explains financial policies and payment options to patients and families.
• Enters payments and performs daily reconciliation; balances cash drawer and prepares bank deposits.
• Schedules office visits and procedures; maximizes reimbursement per payer plan provisions.
• Communicates with patients via calls, emails, and in-person to address concerns and improve flow.
• Assists with patient records requests in line with policies and laws.
• Provides a range of patient services to support patient flow (escort, vitals, history, etc.).
• Works independently in a fast-paced environment to prioritize care and manage payor information.
