Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Duke Orthopedics Oncology Service in Durham and Cary, NC. The APP will deliver direct patient care for bone metastasis and general orthopedic conditions in collaboration with the attending physician.

Primary hours are Monday through Friday with flexibility to meet patient needs; a path for career advancement, competitive compensation, and comprehensive benefits is provided.

Qualifications

• MSN required; NP licensure in NC preferred.
• PA accreditation and NC license required.
• Experience in orthopedics or oncology is preferred for robust patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients with bone metastasis as well as general orthopedic care by assisting the physician in clinic and managing independent patient load.
• Coordinate patient care including triage, exams, data collection, diagnostics, scheduling labs, and peri-operative workflow as needed.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to supervising physician, nursing staff, and other providers both verbally and in writing.
• Document results and patient status in the electronic medical record; monitor responses to therapies and communicate outcomes.
• Respond to patient inquiries via phone or MyChart and be available for physician consultation as needed.
