Job summary

MaineGeneral Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support the Orthopedics team. The role includes clinical and administrative duties to ensure smooth visits for patients and providers.

Work will be performed in Augusta and Oakland with a consistent daytime schedule from 8:00 to 4:30, totaling 40 hours per week. Certification and an associate degree in Medical Assisting are required, with emphasis on patient-first care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Work experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Certification by an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Education: Associate degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited school.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to balance clinical and administrative responsibilities.
• Team-focused mindset with a patient-first approach

Responsibilities

• Assists with collecting statistics and prepares patient for visit and medical staff.
• Prepare patients for visits and assists providers during examinations.
• Assists with basic diagnostic procedures and performs specimen collection as required.
• Communicates observed changes in patient condition to medical staff for assessment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Filing, reception, scheduling, scribing, data entry, prior authorization, and patient registration.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Maintains examination areas.
