Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the SPN - Orthopedics department at the SGMC Surgery Center. The ideal candidate will assist APRN and physicians by preparing patients for examinations, assisting with procedures, and handling clerical duties in a busy surgical setting.

The role requires accurate transcription into the EMR, scheduling and obtaining precertifications for surgeries, and may include phlebotomy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• One-year experience in a clinical area preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• General office skills and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient for examination and assist with procedures.
• Transcribe into electronic medical record.
• Perform clerical duties and operate office equipment and computers.
• Assist in scheduling and obtaining precertification for surgeries.
• May perform phlebotomy with no waived testing.
