Job summary

Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT hires a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Orthopedics clinic on a full-time day shift (40 hours). You will perform clinical duties to support physicians and ensure a smooth daily workflow, including medication management, patient room readiness, vaccines, and equipment handling.

You must hold a CT LPN license, have a HS diploma and at least two years of LPN experience in a hospital or office setting.

Qualifications

• Connecticut LPN license required.
• HS diploma required; college courses preferred.
• Two years of LPN experience in hospital or office setting required.

Responsibilities

• Assists their provider by documenting chief complaint, essential data (height, weight, blood pressure, head circumference).
• Maintains even distribution of patients for the assigned nurse practitioner or pediatrician and keeps rooms supplied with medical materials and educational material.
• Assist patients to X-ray, lab or ED when needed.
• Set up Nebulizer treatments and monitor the patient.
• Document in medical records and complete school/camp forms.
• Reinforce education and health information with parent/guardian/patient after consultation.
• Answer medical questions or refer to doctor when necessary.
• Record messages accurately and follow protocols regarding health concerns and follow up with provider.
• Assist physician or NP in emergencies and prepare equipment for procedures.
• Assist in minor procedures (PKU, sutures, catheterization) as needed.
• Immunizations and allergy shots administered and documented.
• Obtain strep cultures and submit to Lab timely.
• Secure exam/lab rooms and restock supplies daily.
• Retrieve special orders from Lab/X-ray on provider requests.
