Iowa Ortho is seeking a dedicated Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Orthopedic Urgent Care locations. The Rad Tech assists with imaging, prepares patients, and supports procedures under physician direction.

This role requires current RT(R) certification, CPR, and strong communication. Shifts are 12-hour, with occasional Saturdays; you will work in a fast-paced orthopedic setting delivering high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with patients and staff.
• Ability to read and interpret physician orders, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to document patient care accurately and concisely in the EMR and on paper charts.

Responsibilities

• Direct patients to exam rooms and obtain vitals.
• Pull x-rays and MRIs; upload images from CD when provided.
• Assist with procedures and prepare patients for injections per physician direction.
• Assist with dressing, transport, and transfers.
• Apply casts/splints and assist with suture removal as directed.
• Schedule and reschedule appointments and follow-ups.
• Collect specimens and deliver to the proper laboratory.
• Prepare equipment for autoclave and maintain sterile technique.
• Document information in EMR and prepare paper charts for upcoming appointments.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff.
• Respect patient privacy and HIPAA guidelines.

Description

Iowa Orthopedic Center is seeking a dedicated Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Orthopedic Urgent Care locations. The Radiologic Technologist I (Rad Tech) plays a critical role in supporting patient care at Iowa Ortho by assisting with clinical procedures, performing diagnostic imaging, and preparing patients under the direction of a physician and/or APP. This role involves a combination of imaging, documentation, education, and patient care duties, including applying DME, casting/splinting, and facilitating in-office procedures. The Rad Tech collaborates with physicians, APPs & care team to ensure the highest quality of patient care and a positive patient experience.

**3 12hr Shifts (7am-7pm) and the occasional (8am-12pm) Saturdays.***

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct patients to exam room; obtains patient history and vitals
• Pull x-rays and MRIs as needed via the computer; uploads images brought on CD by the patient
• Assist physician/x-ray tech with procedures as requested; prepare patient for injection as directed by a physician
• Assist patients with dressing, transport and transfers
• Assist with cast and splint application and/or removal; remove sutures, staples, apply Steri-Strips and appropriate bandages/dressings as directed by physician
• Accurately schedule/reschedule appointments and follow up appointments for patients as needed
• Collect specimens as directed by a physician, do proper paper work and deliver specimen to proper lab
• Prepare equipment/instruments for autoclave as needed
• Document information in EMR; prepare the paper charts for upcoming appointments by printing information from EMR and filing appropriately
• Call patients for upcoming appointments to obtain a history and get items from different facilities as needed
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and other staff
• Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to Release of Information Guidelines in regards to clients’/significant others’ rights.

Requirements

• Current RT(R) certificate or degree
• Current CPR Certification and Mandatory Reporter Certification
• Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as physician orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manual
• Ability to document accurately and concisely patient’s care in EMR and/or in patients chart
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time and lift a minimum of 50 pounds
