Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group in Iowa is seeking an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to join a growing, high-performing team at a Level III Trauma Center. You will build and shape a new program with strong institutional support, managing complex trauma cases in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The role emphasizes inpatient care with a Monday–Friday schedule, protected call, and robust resources to deliver high-quality trauma care. Fellowship-trained clinicians and ABOS board status are desirable.

Qualifications

• MD or DO required.
• Fellowship trained in Orthopedic Traumatology or Adult Reconstruction/Total Joint Arthroplasty.
• ABOS Board Certified or Board Eligible required.
• Ability to obtain Iowa and Illinois medical licenses.
• Strong clinical and surgical skill set with commitment to quality and evidence-based care.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
• Open to graduating fellows and experienced surgeons.

Responsibilities

• Provide orthopedic trauma care in a Level III Trauma Center.
• Maintain 100% inpatient focus with Monday–Friday, 8–5 schedule.
• Share evening and weekend call (1:8).
• Collaborate with trauma, anesthesia, orthopedics and critical care.
• Help build and shape the new program with strong leadership support.
