Job summary

Northeast Healthcare Recruitment, Inc. (NEHCR) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a highly skilled orthopedic trauma team at a busy regional trauma center serving western South Dakota and the surrounding region.

This full-time APP position focuses exclusively on orthopedic trauma and emergency care with no elective responsibilities. You’ll work alongside experienced orthopedic trauma surgeons with first assist opportunities in the operating room and a dedicated trauma

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
  • Current or eligible South Dakota NP or PA license.
  • National certification as NP or NCCPA for PAs.
  • Orthopedic trauma, orthopedic surgery, emergency medicine, or surgical experience preferred but not required.
  • New graduates with a strong interest in orthopedic trauma are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage orthopedic trauma patients in the emergency department and inpatient setting.
  • Round daily on hospitalized orthopedic trauma patients.
  • First assist orthopedic trauma surgeons during operative procedures.
  • Provide fracture management, splinting, casting, wound care, postoperative management, and other procedures within scope of practice.
  • Participate in a dedicated orthopedic trauma follow-up clinic.
  • Coordinate care with trauma surgery, emergency medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, and case management teams.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, recovery expectations, and injury prevention.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

You'llwork alongside experienced orthopedic trauma surgeons while gaining meaningfuloperative, inpatient, emergency department, and clinic experience.

Schedule
  • 164 twelve-hourshifts annually
  • 24/7 teamcoverage
  • Typical shifts:
    • 6:30 AM – 6:30PM
    • 6:30 PM – 6:30AM
