Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is seeking an Orthopedic Technologist I to join the Amb Svcs Orthopaedics Ctr. The role supports physicians and staff by applying casts, splints, and braces, preparing patients, and helping maintain a smooth clinic flow in a fast-paced pediatric ortho setting.

Primary hours are Monday through Friday with rotating shifts and weekend ED coverage as described, offering 0.8 FTE and full-time schedule expectations at Burnet Campus and related locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No prior experience.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Practice - Assist with the application and removal of basic casts, splints, and braces for orthopedic patients. Support orthopedic providers and clinical staff by helping with routine patient care tasks, including preparing patients for their visit and helping maintain an efficient clinic flow. Perform patient intake duties, such as obtaining vital signs, confirming patient information, documenting medical histories, and preparing exam rooms. Provide general assistance to Ambulatory Services, the Orthopedic Division, and other hospital departments that need basic orthopedic support. Help ensure a positive patient and family experience by communicating clearly, offering basic instructions on cast or splint care, and responding to questions within the scope of the role
• Interdepartmental Duties - Offer excellent care to orthopedic patients during emergency room visits, during specified times. Able to assist with casting in OR setting. Be aware of sterile precautions during and after orthopedic surgical cases. Be available if time permits to assist Orthopedic staff with in-house patients. Able to be functional in ED and always practicing with a physician.
• Inventory Management - Display the ability to maintain casting area, check stock and coordinate discrepancies with the Ortho Tech Supervisor. Consistently and accurately capture charges of inventory dispersed through the pyxsis system. Assist with cleaning of patient stations after use, and be aware of potential safety hazards. Remain current in and consistently practice CCHMC blood and body fluid precautions. Performs scheduled, routine safety checks on identified equipment and logs action. Notifies supervisor in a timely manner when issues are identified that require their attention.
• Compliance - Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, such as JCAHO, HIPAA, and/or other accreditation standards.
• Customer Service - Utilize basic approaches to problem solving and conflict resolution. Participate in identifying improvements in response to customer needs. Facilitates involvement of patients/families (shared care) in decisions and goal setting for care outcomes.
