Job summary

Cone Health Medical Group in Greensboro, NC seeks an Orthopedic Technician II to assist with fabrication of casts and splints and to apply prefab braces for various injuries. The role involves setup, patient education on crutches, and assisting physicians during reductions under supervision.

Responsibilities include reviewing x-rays for appropriate splint orders, documenting all services, coordinating equipment orders with outside vendors, and performing other duties as assigned to support

Qualifications

• BLS CPR certification required (American Red Cross or AHA).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 2 years in nursing, emergency medicine, or MD office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with applying and removing casts and splints per physician's instructions.
• Apply and adjust pre-fab braces with education to patients and staff on wearing and fit.
• Educate patients and families on proper use of crutches.
• Assist ortho/emergency physicians with reductions by stabilizing the patient while MD performs procedure and post procedure applies splint and/or sling as needed.
• Review x-rays to verify splint order is appropriate for injury type and collaborate with MD as needed.
• Document all services performed completely and accurately within the patient's medical chart.
• Complete appropriate documentation and procedures when ordering equipment from outside vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
