Job summary

AdventHealth in Celebration, FL seeks an Orthopedic Technician to support Rothman Orthopedics at Celebration. The role covers triage of clinical calls, assisting physicians with minor procedures and wound care, casting, traction, patient intake, and education.

Schedule is full-time, daytime hours in Kissimmee area with occasional float to other Rothman practices. Requires BLS CPR, high school diploma, and orthopedic tech experience preferred; onsite role with a 8am-4:30pm schedule, Mon-Fri.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak conversational English.
• Critical thinking for when to stop treatment, amend treatment, notify physician, and call emergency response.
• Necessary computer skills to include Outlook and Microsoft Word

Responsibilities

• Triages clinical calls to facilitate patient questions and concerns specific to orthopedic technician responsibilities.
• Assists physicians with minor office procedures, bedside/inpatient minor procedures, wound care, wound VAC application, and/or operating room assistance as applicable.
• Responds to orders/tasks in a timely manner, per department guidelines.
• Assists with or applies and removes casts and splints, including trimming and DME fitting for patients.
• Assists with placing patients into traction and adjusts traction equipment as ordered by Physicians and APPs.
• Completes patient intake and rooming, including height, weight, patient history.
• Communicates information clearly to teammates to ensure coverage is not affected by staffing changes.
• Provides patient education on cast care and DME equipment; documents thoroughly and accurately.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvements and supports quality standards.
• Manages documentation, supply ordering, and relationships with DME providers.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Adjusts and adapts to changes in inpatient volume by altering working hours to assist in other centers.
