Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to provide orthopedic support for inpatients and outpatients in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will apply and remove casts, splints, braces, traction, and CPM devices, and ensure timely documentation and charging in the EMR.

You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians, maintain infection control standards, and educate patients and families on cast care while supporting department safety and throughput.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of applying/removing casts, splints, braces, traction, overhead suspensions, and CPM machines.
• Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Applies and removes casts, splints, braces, traction devices, overhead suspensions, and CPM machines.
• Assists with orthopedic devices based on patient anatomy to promote safety and effective treatment.
• Responds to ER/OR calls within 30 minutes and routine referrals within 1 hour.
• Ensures infection control and OSHA compliance.
• Documents services and processes patient charges before end of shift.
• Participates in quality improvement and data collection.
• Educates patients and families on cast/splint care.
