Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• No experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Orthopaedic Technologist Certification (OTC) preferred.
• 2–3 years of patient-care experience in orthopedics; 0–1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and apply traction per standard procedures.
• Assist with the application of casts, braces, and prostheses.
• Requisition, store, and dispense supplies as directed.
• Inspect and maintain orthopedic equipment.
• Instruct patients in cast care, exercises, and crutch/cane use; apply dressings.
• May assist in rounds with doctors and fashion devices from materials.
