Qualifications

• High school diploma required; relevant medical certification preferred within 12 months of hire.
• OTC certification or eligibility required.
• At least 2 years of relevant orthopedic experience.
• Knowledge of casts, splints, orthotics and related devices.
• Experience operating cast tools/equipment such as cast saw and spreader.

Responsibilities

• Apply/remove/repair casts and splints as ordered by physician or nurse practitioner.
• Assist in examination, treatment and follow-up care in orthopedic clinic.
• Assist with patient care under supervision of a nurse.
• Maintain inventory of orthopedic supplies and stock.
• Keep exam/treatment rooms clean and stocked between patients.
• Document procedures in the medical record.
• Support Genesis Healthcare System's mission and values.
• Follow all policies and procedures and provide a safe patient environment.
• Engage in department meetings and quality improvement activities.
• Assist with orientation of new staff.
• Attend unit in-service education as appropriate.
• Pursue professional growth and development plan.
• If acting as Orthopedic Technician in Foot & Ankle, refer to addendum for additional duties.
• Demonstrate patient-centered care and effective communication with patients and families.
• Contribute to a supportive and safe clinical environment.
