Job summary

Southeast Orthopedic Specialists’ Fleming Island location in Jacksonville, FL seeks an Orthopedic Technician to provide hands-on patient care, apply casts and splints, dispense DME, and support physicians while keeping the clinic organized.

Responsibilities include education on casts and DME, maintaining DME knowledge, logging activities, ordering supplies, and coordinating with the Authorization Team to handle patient financials. On-site role with stable, full-time hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Technician, or Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to educate patients effectively and manage inventory.

• Apply and adjust fiberglass casts, splints, and orthopedic traction equipment per physician orders.
• Educate patients on proper care of casts, splints, and DME items.
• Maintain knowledge of clinic DME products and indications for use.
• Keep accurate logs and spreadsheets as required by the department.
• Place supply orders according to calculated par levels and clinic needs.
• Collaborate with the Authorization Team to determine patient financial responsibility and communicate with patients.
• Organize and stock received inventory efficiently.
• Monitor inventory levels daily to ensure clinic readiness.
• Report new usage trends to the Practice Manager.
• Assist in other areas of the clinic as needed.

General Summary

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma/GED required; completion of Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Technician, or Medical Assistant program preferred.

• Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to educate patients effectively, and proficiency in inventory management.
